Language delay
“Do you feel your child’s speech development is progressing more slowly? Perhaps they communicate less than their peers or struggle to express themselves?”
In cases of language delay (delayed speech development), the child’s cognitive abilities and hearing are intact, yet speech onset is delayed or development is slow. The goal of therapy is to encourage a willingness to communicate and speak.
Typical symptoms
1
Uses fewer than 50 words at the age of 2.
2
Does not form two-word sentences.
3
Uncertain speech comprehension.
How can I help?
I don’t “teach” the child to speak, but instead create playful situations where they become motivated to communicate.
Movement-based games
Music and rhythm
Vocabulary expansion
The role of the parent
Parental consultation is an important part of the therapy. We discuss how you can naturally support your child’s speech development at home in everyday situations.
